ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPELLER SHAPED BLADE
AND HIGH PROTECTION COVER SLAM

1.Starting point:
– normal configuration

2. Dismantling Line Head:
- locking the gear shaft by inserting a screw driver into the holder on the gear and turn the Line Head in a clockwise direction

3. Removing two holders (A, B):
- If present remove the anti-tangling cup (C)

4. Dismantling Cutting head from the shaft:
- Remove the bolts/screws screwed into the shaft
- Loosen the main bolt of the cutting head
- The cutting head easily will come out from the shaft

5. Dismantling Guard:
- Remove all the bolts on the Guard and remove the Guard from the shaft

6. Assembling HIGH SAFETY PROTECTION COVER SLAM:
     a. Loosen the Cover nuts with the wrench supplied with the Cover;
     b. Raise the red guide tabs;
     c. Insert the Cover into the shaft (DO NOT THIGHTEN THE COVER NUTS);
     d. Reassemble the Cutting Head and check that the bolts/screws are firmly tightened.

7. Assembling SHAPED PROPELLER BLADE SLAM:
Note: the blade is assembled in the same way as a normal blade

  1. Insert the Holder (B) provided with the blade housing;
  2. Position the propeller in the blade housing of the cutting head with the blade nuts upward;
  3. Insert the metal holder (A) and the nut (or bolt) already supplied with the strimmer / brushcutter on the blade;
  4. Tighten strongly the nut (or bolt) counter clockwise (locking the gear shaft by inserting a screw driver).

8. Tightening SAFETY PROTECTION COVER SLAM:
- After tightening the propeller blade, position it perpendicularly to the line of the shaft. Slide down the Cover over the blade keeping the sides of the Cover parallel in distance to the blade on each side. Leave approx 4 cm clearance between the blade edge and the cover edge (Note: check that the black rubber washer is in correct position as shown in the pictures);
- Tighten strongly the COVER nuts and the internal screw of the red guide tabs;

INSTRUCTION FOR THE BEST USE OF
SHAPED PROPELLER BLADE SLAM

The main technical information for the best practise use of shaped propeller blade are following summarised:

  1. Pay close attention while using the blade. Read and strictly the information supplied with the blade and on the manufacturer's instruction manual;
  2. Before to start to warm up the motor for 2 min. Before putting the blade on the ground accelerate the engine for 5 sec., the propeller will create a cushion of air that keeps the blade at 2-3 cm parallel to the ground. During the blade use keep the engine at a constant and consistent (medium) velocity;
  3. Move the blade sideways gently, DO NOT use the blade with rapid scything movement (more than 10/20 cm/s), this could be dangerous and cause a rapid damage of the blade;
  4. To improve the PULVERIZATION keep the blade sharp and slightly tilt the blade in the direction of the movement;
  5. Before starting work sharpen the blade by the round file supplied: file the propeller in each upper sharp side throughout the length by rapid movement (3-4 times per side) – use the file upside down. KEEPING THE BLADE SHARP protects it from rapid damage;
  6.

  7. DO NOT use the warped, cracked, broken or damaged blade;
  8. With SLAM blade it is possible to pulverise grass and cut young saplings, weeds, bushes, up to 2 cm in diameter; any other use is "highly forbidden". For cutting young saplings, weeds, bushes, use the sharped blade and proceed by small cutting up to 1 cm;
  9. The rotating blade must not come in contact with stones, metal or hard objects;
  10. If the blade starts to shake or vibrate, turn off the engine and check the whole unit. Do not use it until the trouble has been properly corrected. Follow these instruction:

    • Read the manufacturer's instruction manual;
    • Check if the blade is properly assembled and firmly tightened;
    • Check if the blade is unbalanced: remove the blade and insert the Red plastic cylinder into the blade hole (See below Fig.).
    • Put a pin into the Red plastic cylinder hole, which will support the blade and position the blade horizontally (See Fig.). If the blade is unbalanced, it will turn the heavier part of the blade downwards. To reach equilibrium/balance sharpen the heavier side of the blade with the file:

  11. The combined use of PROPELLER BLADE AND HIGH PROTECTION COVER (AP 400 & AP 440) enables a better pulverization and a higher yield. The HIGH PROTECTION COVER SLAM protects against the damage of trees and fences.

The S.L.A.M. products conform to technical regulations UNI ISO 7113 and 8380 for respecting the conformity of the strimmer / brushcutter.

The operator must follow strictly the safety instructions reported in the blade manual, in the strimmer / brushcutter manual and the general safety rules for strimmer / brushcutter use.
